The Custom and Vintage SDX is an expansion pack for the award winning Toontrack Music drumsampler Superior Drummer 2.0. It features extensive stick and brush recordings of a unique collection of drums and cymbals. The SDX gives everyone from top producers down, access to the cream of custom and vintage drums, built by craftsmen from the 1920s right up to the exceptional instrument makers of today, like Johnny Craviotto. Most of these highly prized instruments (like a 1920s Ludwig Black Beauty, or Craviotto Timeless Timber) can only be found in the collections of top studio drummers or hired from rental facilities in the major music centres of the world.

Recorded at 2Khz studio in London using an EMI TG Desk used for many legendary recordings of the early seventies including The Beatles Abbey Road and Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon. It is considered one of the best sounding desks ever made.

The concept of the Poly-850 is simple: 2 oscillators, one filter for all

voices, 3 envelopes, a modulation generator and a chorus effect.

What makes the Poly-850 special, is the unique sound of the oscillators,

and the quality of the chorus effect.

As a result, the Poly-850 is particularly great for warm backing sounds and

atmospheric pad sounds, that fit nicely into the background of a mix. However

you'll find all kind of other useful sounds in the preset banks as well.

The X-Poly is a VST / AU synthesizer plug-in, which started out as an     

emulation of a vintage synth, but went beyond that by adding many

improvements and new features over the original.

The concept of the X-Poly is based around two oscillators, each containing

four special sub-oscillators spaced one octave apart. Both oscillators can be

blended seamlessly between a square and a sawtooth-type waveform and can be

freely panned in the stereo field. The six-stage envelopes controlling the

amplitudes of the oscillators provide a linear slope for the first five

stages and a semi-logarithmic release for the final stage.

A global filter applied to all voices simultaneously as well as a stereo

noise generator and a sophisticated chorus effect complement the unique sound

of this instrument plugin. As a result, the X-Poly is particularly great for

warm backing sounds, leads and atmospheric pad sounds, that fit nicely into

the mix.

The EKS-9 is a special-purpose VST / AU  software synthesizer, designed to

recreate the sound of analog electronic kickdrum sounds - hence the name EKS

(Electronic Kickdrum Synthesizer).

The plugin offers two modes, 808 and 909, each with their own,

characteristic sound. It goes far beyond the capabilities of vintage analog

hardware, however, and introduces new parameters, most importantly it offers

precise control of the pitch. Additionally, despite the fundamentally

different models employed, all parameters apply equally to both the 808 and

909 mode.

The user interface is organized into four sections controlling the pitch,

the amplitude and pitch envelopes, the attack stage and finally pitch

modulation. This layout makes it simple and straightforward to program your

own patches or modify existing ones.

Silent Way is a suite of plug-ins designed for use as part of a modular   

analogue synthesiser system. The plug-ins produce no sound themselves, nor do

they process sound - rather, they generate signals to be used as control

voltages (CVs), which can be patched into the control inputs of oscillators,

filters, VCAs etc. of an analogue system. Also, with the addition of the CV

Input plug-in, it is possible to bring CVs from the synth into the computer,

for recording or processing.

There are currently nine plug-ins in the Silent Way suite - Silent Way DC,

If you find your production work can be slow and difficult, imprecise or

arbitrary. Problems are difficult to track down and mixing can become a

strange balance of guesswork and intuition, then you need some better

tools.



SEQ 1 and SEQ 2 Master Edition v1.2.6

The NuGen Audio SEQ series, unlike many digital EQ's, is linear phase.

This means that the phase shift is linear across the frequency spectrum,

resulting in a natural sounding EQ change, and producing minimal phase

artifacts.

Traditional EQ algorithms employ a mathematical technique known as IIR

(Infinite Impulse Response). Whilst this provides low CPU usage and is

relatively simple from a mathematical point of view, there is an important

side effect known as Phase Warping. Digital EQ utilising the classic the

IIR approach distorts the relationship between frequency and phase.

The computational algorithm employed in SEQ1 is based up on FFT (Fast

Fourier Transform Analysis). This is a much more involved process,

involving transformation of the audio data into the frequency domain,

before applying frequency related computations and then transforming back

into the temporal domain. The advantage of this process is that the

frequency and temporal relationship remains intact -- linear phase

transformation. The benefit of this method is that linear phase adjustments

sound clearer, it is possible to create a much more transparent EQ using

this technology. Phase Warping also affects the clarity of transients, as

it causes Phase Smearing. Linear Phase calculations avoid this limitation,

producing a sharper audio image.

Adjust the position of percussion sounds in a stereo loop, or add stereo

positioning to mono samples, placing frequencies exactly where you want

them. Stereoplacer gives you control that is simply not available within a

traditional mix setup.

Stereoplacer is a fine-tune parametric EQ with the addition of stereo

positioning controls. This allows you to tune each band into specific

frequencies and move the frequency content around in the stereo sound

stage. You can also apply different amounts of cut and boost to the Left

and Right channels, or allow Stereoplacer to keep the balance of the

original sounds while you choose the position.

Line-up is a delay unit, specifically designed to allow rapid and simple

sample-accurate delays to be set-up with minimum CPU overhead and screen

imprint.

Delay time automatically steps through powers of two to allow rapid

dial-in of frequently required numbers. Double-click allows direct

numerical entry and holding down shift whilst click-dragging steps through

in single samples.

Although primarily intended as a line up tool for misaligned tracks (no

host PDC, phase re-alignment, long mic/speaker recording delay, etc.),

Line-up can also be used as a send effect to create very precise chorus,

phase and doubling effects.

How to describe this? Well, I guess we'll just settle for this: sometimes digital is just TOO perfect. I'm not going to say "sterile" or "lacking soul", because I'd wind up eating my words sooner or later...but sometimes you just want a little grit...a little dirt...a little imperfection. That's where Bad Buss Mojo comes in. Bad Buss Mojo allows you to dial in specific tweaks to a virtual mix buss amplifier. Is the + rail a little low? Dial it in...PSU not quite as stiff as it could be? Dial in a bit of knee in the bend. Old-school transistors or even tubes? Dial in some nonlinear modulation. It�fll go from "I can't hear that you've done anything, but I like it" all the way up to "Why did you run my mix through a guitar amp?" Highly recommended (the plugin, not running your mix through a guitar amp...)

but can also give extremely satisfying results in single track and buss

applications.
